On Tuesday, the Indian benchmark indices snapped a two-day winning run
Nifty was opened 21000 then fell to 20870
Finally, Nifty was down 90.70 points or 0.43 percent at 20,906.40
Sensex was down 377.50 points or 0.54 percent at 69,551.03
The biggest losers were BPCL, Apollo Hospitals, Maruti Suzuki, Sun Pharma
While gainers included HDFC Life, UltraTech Cement, Bajaj Auto, SBI Life
Except for Metal, all other sectoral indices ended in the red
Capital goods, oil & gas, power and realty down 1 percent each
Midcap index shed 0.4 percent and smallcap index fell 0.2 percent
Nearly 400 stocks touched their 52-week high on the BSE
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation print in October was 4.87 percent. At 5.55 percent
Industrial growth surges to 16-month high of 11.7% in October
Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) net bought shares worth Rs 76.86 crore
While domestic institutional investors (DIIs) purchased Rs 1,923.32 crore worth of stocks on December 12
US stocks closed at fresh highs of the year on Tuesday
US CPI YoY Actual 3.1% Forecast 3.1%, Previous 3.2%
US CORE CPI YOY ACTUAL 4.0% (FORECAST 4%, PREVIOUS 4.0%)
Dow gained 0.48%, Nasdaq added 0.70%, and S&P500 rallied 0.46%
US VIX sustained below 12. Its lowest level since Jan 2020
US 10-year yield falls below 4.2%
Brent crude futures for February settled down $2.79, or 3.7 percent, to $73.24 a barrel
West Texas Intermediate crude futures for January slipped $2.71, or 3.8 percent, to $68.61 a barrel
Dollar index sustained around 103.80
Spot gold was steady at $1,978.68 per ounce
Asian markets were trading mixed on Wednesday
Japan’s Nikkei added 0.7 percent, while South Korea’s Kospi was down 0.4 percent
Hangseng down around 0.4%
