Nifty last close: 21731.40 (-0.22%)
The market bounced back from the losses of the previous week and ended the year 2023 on a positive note
For the week, BSE Sensex gained 1,133.3 points or 1.60 percent to close at 72,240.26
Nifty50 jumped 382 points or 1.78 percent to end at 21731.4
However, for the year 2023, BSE Sensex and Nifty50 rose 18.74% and 20%, respectively
Telecommunication, BSE Auto, and BSE Metal sectors each saw a 4% increase
FMCG index rose 3%. However, the BSE Information Technology index dipped by 0.5%
In this week, broader indices also touched fresh record highs with BSE-Midcap, BSE-Largecap and BSE-Smallcap
Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought equities worth Rs 8,648.96 crore
Domestic institutional investors (DIIs) also purchased equities worth Rs 666.06 crore
In December, FIIs bought equities worth Rs 31,959.78 crore
While DIIs purchased equities worth Rs 12,942.25 crore

US markets ended flat note on Dec 29 ahead of New Year holidays
Dow down 0.05%, Nasdaq declined 0.56% and S&P500 fell 0.26%
S&P500 rallied 24%, Dow gained 13.5% and Nasdaq rallied 44% in 2023
Dax up 20%, CAC gained 16% and FTSE rallied 4% in 2023
Crude down around 10% in 2023
The Brent contract for March lost 11 cents, or 0.14 percent, to settle at $77.04
The Dollar index traded 0.06 percent lower in futures at 101.32
Spot gold was at $2,062.59 per ounce
