2G scam: CBI to quiz Raja, aides again

The CBI will interrogate the former telecom minister A Raja, former telecom secretary Sidharth Behuria and ADAG Group MD Gautam Doshi on Monday in connection with a second chargesheet into the 2G spectrum scam.

Patiala House Court accepted CBI’s plea to interrogate the three after CBI had sought permission from Court to interrogate them.

The CBI had earlier on July 12 said it wanted to bring in 10 more witnesses, including the wife and kin of a key accused in 2G spectrum allocation scam case and 28 more documents, including transcripts of corporate lobbyist Nira Radia’s tele-talks with various people, to bolster its stand.

The additional witnesses for which CBI sought Special CBI Judge OP Saini’s permission Aseela Vinod Goenka, the wife of DB Realty Managing Director and one of the accused in the 2G scam Vinod Goenka, besides his brother Pramod Goenka and nephew Yashwardhan Goenka.

The agency also sought the court’s permission to submit a total of 28 additional documents and a list of 10 witnesses in support of its charge sheets filed on April 2 and April 25, 2011.

The additional list of documents include bank documents tracing huge fund transfers from Tiger Traders to Swan Capital Pvt Ltd and minutes of board meetings of DB Realty from January 2007 to February 2010.

The Supreme Court on July 11 had disfavoured the idea of setting up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) for effective monitoring of the probe into 2G spectrum scam saying “CBI and ED were on the right course” and “any inteference at this stage may jeopardize” the probe.
