Nifty volatile ahead of expiry

NIFTY ZIGZAG trading today

SBI and Axis Bank were down more than 2.5%. PNB fell 2%. HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and Kotak Mahindra Bank slipped 0.5-1%. DLF from realty pack was down nearly 1%.

Bharti Airtel, Reliance Communications, Tata Motors, M&M, Ambuja Cements and Jaiprakash Associates were down 2%.

However, TCS, ONGC, Infosys, NTPC, ITC, L&T, HUL and Hero Honda went up 1.5-2.5%. Reliance Industries, BHEL and Sterlite Industries were up nearly 1%.

In midcap space, Bajaj Corp, Coromandel International, South Indian Bank, WABCO-TVS and KGN Industries gained 5-7% while Himadri Chemical, JM Financial, Motilal Oswal, Jet Airways and United Bank fell 4-5%.

In smallcap space, AP Paper Mills surged 20%. KNR Construction, Lloyd Electric, Gemini Comm and Sterling Holiday rallied 9-13%. However, Smartlink Network tanked 7%. Shree Ram Urban, West Coast Paper, Koutons Retail and Seamec lost 5-7%

SENSEX gains 1300 points in 6 days

NIFTY rallied 49.10 points or 0.86%, to close at 5,736.35, after hitting an intra-day high of 5,770.35

SENSEX went up 177.66 points or 0.94%, to settle at 19,120.8

India’s largest telecom player Bharti Airtel’ shares led the markets from front, with gaining 3.7%. Among others, ONGC, TCS, NTPC, HDFC, Infosys, Sterlite, DLF, Axis Bank, Tata Motors and DLF gained 1-2.5%. Maruti, Sesa Goa, Reliance Communications, Hero Honda, BPCL and Dr Reddy’s Labs surged 3-4%. SBI and L&T went up over 0.5%

In midcap space, Puravankara Projects, Dewan Housing, BASF, Allcargo Global and Himadri Chemical surged 6-10.5% while Shree Global, Den Networks, Prestige Estate, KGN Industries and Mahindra Holiday lost 4-10%.

In smallcap space, Jai Balaji Industries shot up 20% on broker reports. Force Motors, KSB Pumps, TTK Prestige and AP Paper Mills were up 7-9%. However, Accentia Tech plunged 20%. Chromatic India, BS TransComm, Ushdev Intl and OCL Iron fell 6-9%.

Volume has been increased ahead of expiry on Thursday – total traded turnover was more than Rs 1.9 lakh crore, including Rs 1.76 lakh crore from F&O segment.

About 1135 shares advanced as against 1842 shares declined on the National Stock Exchange

Nifty ends higher for 5th consecutive session

NIFTY : closed at 5,687.25, up 33 points or 0.58%, after hitting the 5,700 mark in an intra-day trade

SENSEX : too touched the 19,000 level, before shutting shop at 18,943.14, up 127.50 points or 0.68%

The BSE Auto, Capital Goods and Bank indices led the rally today, with gaining 1.2-1.5%

SBI, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, HDFC and PNB witnessed some profit booking at higher levels, before closing 0.7-1.4% higher

Bajaj Auto, Maruti, Hero Honda and M&M were up 0.6-1.6%. Heavyweights like Bharti Airtel, ONGC, L&T, NTPC, Wipro and HUL rallied 1-2.5%

Sun Pharma topped the selling list among largecaps, with falling more than 3%. Infosys, TCS, Sterlite, DLF, Jaiprakash Associates, Reliance Communications, Sesa Goa, Ranbaxy, Tata Steel, Hindalco and BPCL were other losers

In midcap space, Sterlite Tech climbed 17.5% and Parsvnath surged 11.5%. Unichem Labs, M&M Financial and Torrent Pharma gained 5-7%. However, Shree Global, Den Networks, Aurobindo Pharma, Va Tech Wabag and Glodyne Tech lost 6-9%.

In smallcap space, Asian Star, Falcon Tyres, Elantas Beck, Koutons Retail and Globus Spirits rallied 8-19%. However, Bhagwati Banq, Kiri Industries, EIH Associated Hotel, Nirlon and Prakash Steelage fell 6-8%.
